The palace with its unique architecture and large green areas was once the summer residence of the Austrian imperial family.

Every year many visitors come to visit the historic building and to be enchanted by history.

The name of the castle can be traced back to the 17th century and to Emperor Matthias, who discovered a well during a hunt, which he then called Beautiful Fountain.

The Palace is 175 meters long and 55 meters wide. The Palace has 1441 rooms, all of which are unique with various art treasures.

Under Empress Maria Theresa many buildings were added, such as the Palace Theater and the Orangerie.

After the end of the monarchy, the Palace became the property of the Republic of Austria.

During World War II numerous bombs fell on Schönbrunn. It was rebuilt after the war and since then also many events take place there.
